Zoran Gucev was born and educated in Skopje, North Macedonia. After graduating the Medical School in Skopje, he there completed his residency in pediatrics. Additional education for several years was done at OHSU, Portland OR, USA; UCSF at San Francisco, CA, USA; Vienna, Austria; Paris, France; Belgrade, Serbia; Zagreb, Croatia. Additional short stays in Murcia, Spain; Berlin and Leipzig in Germany; Utrecht in the Netherlands.

Zoran is a member of many national and international professional associations (ESPE, BDS, ZLM…). He authored and co-authored 141 PubMed articles, some of them in Nature, NEJM…

His teaching career spans several decades. He also graduated at the Faculty for Philosophy in Skopje.

At the present time, he is a happily working retiree. Reading, writing, hiking, and swimming are part of his life.

Prof. Velibor Tasic graduated from the Medical School in Skopje in 1980 and began working at the Clinic for Children’s Diseases the same year. He specialized in pediatrics in 1986 and pursued extensive training in pediatric nephrology in Belgrade, London, Birmingham, and Hannover between 1986 and 2001. He completed her PhD in 1997 at the University “Sv. Kiril i Metodij” in Skopje, focusing on the clinical, biological, and prognostic aspects of acute post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis in children. He currently holds the academic rank of Full Professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology at the Medical School in Skopje.

Professor Velibor Tasic is an active member of multiple international and regional societies, including the International Pediatric Nephrology Association, European Society for Pediatric Nephrology, EDTA-ERA, and the European Academy of Pediatrics, as well as the Macedonian Pediatric Association. He has contributed to several working groups focused on pediatric nephrology and rare kidney disorders and has served in leadership roles including Secretary General of the Macedonian Pediatric Association (2004–2006) and Council Member of the European Society of Pediatric Nephrology (2009–2012).

He has organized and chaired numerous regional and international conferences, including the SEPNWG Teaching Courses, Balkan Alport Meetings, and Rare Disease Conferences in Skopje. He has been invited as a lecturer at teaching courses and pediatric schools across Europe. Professor Velibor Tasic has authored over 200 PubMed-indexed publications and presented approximately 400 conference papers and abstracts, making significant contributions to the field of pediatric nephrology and rare kidney diseases.

Aleksandra, born in Skopje, continued her education in the field of children's diseases after graduating from the Medical Faculty. She completed pediatric specialization and a master's degree in pediatrics, with a thesis on new protocols for the treatment of children with lymphoblastic leukemia.

Since 2006, Aleksandra has been working at the Department of Endocrinology and Genetics at the University Children's Hospital in Skopje. She developed her expertise in pediatric endocrinology through numerous educational and clinical fellowships and seminars (ESPE – Great Ormond Street Hospital, EASD, EASO, etc.).

She earned her PhD in 2018 and completed her subspecialization in endocrinology in 2024. She has actively participated as a co-investigator in six multicenter randomized research studies involving patients with diabetes, growth hormone deficiency (GHD), and craniopharyngioma, as well as in four national studies involving obese children and adolescents, and children with anemia.

Aleksandra is an active member of:

  • The Obesity Working Group of the European Society of Pediatric Endocrinology (ESPE),

  • The International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD),

  • The European Academy of Pediatrics (EAP),

  • The National and European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO),

  • The World Obesity Federation (WOF).

Since 2022, she has served as a Review Editor for the journal Frontiers in Pediatrics, and as a reviewer for several journals with a high impact factor:

  • Frontiers in Endocrinology (6.05),

  • Genes (4.2),

  • Frontiers in Pediatrics (3.6),

  • Contributions and etc.

Currently, Aleksandra is an Associate Professor at the Medical Faculty in Skopje, a pediatric endocrinologist, and Head of the Department of Endocrinology and Genetics at the University Children's Hospital in Skopje.
